Rangers flop who “offers nothing” must not start another game in 2025

By h79snht.top

da esport bet: Glasgow Rangers are nine points adrift of the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with a game in hand over Hearts, and play the league leaders on Sunday.

da cassino online: The Light Blues have three matches left to play in 2025 before their first game of the new year is against Celtic, who are in second place, which means that Danny Rohl has some huge matches ahead of him in the coming weeks.

As crazy as it may seem to say after the dismal start to the season under Russell Martin, Rangers could be in the title race if they string some wins together in the upcoming festive schedule.

Rangers players who have improved the most under Danny Rohl

There have been several players who have stepped up to show that they are better than what they showed under the previous management since the German tactician took the job.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

Whilst players like Emmanuel Fernandez and Dujon Sterling, who combined for the winner against Hibs, have impressed, they started one league game between them under Martin, so it is hard to say that they ‘improved’.

Bojan Miovski is certainly one star who has improved for the new manager, though, as he has scored three goals and provided one assist in his last six appearances for the club, per Sofascore, after a return of two goals and one assist in the previous 15 games.

Mikey Moore has also stepped up in front of goal under Rohl. He has scored two goals and provided one assist for the manager after a return of zero goals and one assist in ten games for Martin, per Transfermarkt.

At the back, Nasser Djiga has helped Rangers to keep four clean sheets in six league appearances for Rohl, per Sofascore, after one clean sheet in six league outings before his arrival.

Whilst those three, in particular, have improved under him, there is one player, in particular, who has struggled badly under both managers and should be dropped.

The Rangers flop who should not start again in 2025

With the aforementioned importance of the upcoming fixtures in mind, Rohl should not hand Youssef Chermiti another start for the club before the turn of the year.

Rangers play Hearts, Motherwell, and St Mirren before 2026 and the Portugal U21 international’s form suggests that he is not going to provide the quality that they need in front of goal to mount a title charge.

A minor injury to Miovski gave Chermiti the chance to lead the line against Hibernian on Monday, but he failed to score from any of his five shots on goal, one of which went near the corner flag, in 90 minutes of action, per Sofascore.

As you can see in the table above, the £8m summer signing from Everton has failed to deliver consistent quality on the pitch for Rangers in the league, with one goal to his name so far.

That is also his only goal in all competitions for the Scottish giants, whilst Miovski has a further two goals in the League Cup and the Europa League combined, which speaks to the lack of threat he offers.

In fact, as shown in the post above, journalist Jonny McFarlane went as far as to say that the former Premier League centre-forward “offers nothing”, and his statistics this season do little to discredit that opinion.

Chermiti has scored one goal and failed to create a single ‘big chance’ for his teammates in 18 appearances for Rangers, per Sofascore, which is an incredibly dismal return for the £8m that the Gers spent on the 21-year-old in the summer.

Miovski, who has scored five goals in all competitions, and Danilo, who has scored three goals, are both better options to start up front for the Light Blues, as they have simply offered more of a threat in the final third than the £8m flop.

Therefore, with big games that could shape the title race heading into the second half of the season on the horizon, Rohl should not hand Chermiti another start in 2025, and possibly beyond, because he has better options available to him.

Perfect Rothwell replacement: Rangers are "ready to sign" new star for Rohl

Rangers are reportedly in the mix to sign this central midfielder who would be a perfect replacement for Joe Rothwell.

It will then be down to the Portuguese striker to show improvements off the bench over the coming weeks to prove to the manager that he has what it takes to be a starter for Rangers in the future.
